Day 13 of 365 days - Did I brush my teeth?
I left my house this morning to run a few errands. After walking down the five flights of stairs that leads to my apartment, I realized I had neither brushed my teeth or hair. "Oh, well," I thought to my self, "who am I going to run into..."
Thirty seconds later, I see 2 former regulars sitting outside the 11th street bar. Gulp. I could walk by and wave without saying anything. This is not my general way of being so I stop and say Hi. They even told me how nice my unwashed, unbrushed, slept-in hair looked. All the effort I usually put into putting on make-up and doing my hair now seems wasted.
Needs must get coffee....
Onto Good Deli and now forward to...
Oh, hello. My dear friends T & D. They are on their way to breakfast. We chat for awhile and then off they go. I'm really sad I didn't go back upstairs to brush the pearlies now.
I find myself on 14th street near where my husband works. I find it impossible to walk past his bar. I have to go in and see his face and find out if he wants iced coffee.
He needs iced coffee. And look here, an old regular of mine from many years ago. Boo. I have dirty teeth.
I flee. Onwards, to the bank. Walk in, blast of cool air, ATM, beep, beep, wait, beep. Turn around. My pal W is over there. Hi W!
I stop and get husband iced coffee and walk back to his bar. Say bye to my old regular again.
I start home.
I make it back up the 5 flights.
I brush my teeth.
Ahh.
I'm sorry, my alphabet city brethren. I was a yuck mouth today.
